The Southern Ohio Quarter Horse Association

Proud to promote the American Quarter Horse since 1963

Southern Ohio Quarter Horse Association was started in 1963 and has been an active and progressive organization since then. The object of SOQHA is to promote in all ways the interests of Southern Ohio Quarter Horse owners, to increase the

number of Southern Ohio breeders and owners of quarter horses registered by the American Quarter Horse Association and to help advance Ohio to the position of the leading quarter horse state. All the proceedings of this Association shall be in harmony with the policies and activities of the American Quarter Horse Association.

We put on four very successful shows each year.

Our shows all offer dual approved classes for NSBA members.

The Challenge Show in March, also managed by Mark Harrell Horse Shows,

is the main fundraiser for our Youth Association.

The monies from this four judge, two day show support our

NYATT team and the youth year end awards.

The Madness Show is held April each year.

This six judge, five day show has traditionally been one of the largest shows in Ohio.

This show, managed by Mark Harrell Horse Shows, continues to grow.

The Futurity held at the end of August. This three judge, two day show includes classes for both the open and the non pro to compete in Halter, Yearling Lunge Line, Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure for both 2 & 3 year olds and Maturity horses.

The Turkey Circuit held Thanksgiving weekend each year.

This three judge, two day show allows exhibitors to spend the Holiday

with their families and still show to multiple judges.

We have a very active youth organization. SOQHA sends a team each year to compete in the NYATT competition at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. In addition SOQHYA hosts several fun activities and fundraiser through out each year.

A scholarship program is also available to both youth and adults furthering their education. SOQHA contributes $10,000 annually to continuing education.
