My name is Bridgett White; I’m 15 years old and I am a freshman at Pickerington High School Central. I have two older brothers, Lance and Mitch, two dogs, one cat and one horse. I currently do not play any sports, but I ran track for one year and it took too much time away from riding and riding is my priority. Outside of school and riding; I like to spend time with friends and family. I enjoy movies and going to the football games. I also love country music. Some of my favorite artists are Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan and Kenny Chesney. I have been riding since I was five; my first horse was a Quarter Horse, named Johnny, who just recently passed away at the age of 34. I started showing small fry in the Quarter Horse circuit when I was 9. I show EBG Showin On Go (Blaze) and train with Jamie Watson. I’ve been training with Jamie for 2 years and compete in the All Around events. In 2010 I was Reserve for All Around Novice Youth in Southern Ohio. I was 7th in the Novice Youth HUS at the All American Quarter Horse Congress that year also. What a thrill to be in the top 10 for my very first Congress! This year at Congress I was in the finals for Horsemanship and Equitation. I think the Ohio Quarter Horse Association gives youth the ability to be the best at what you can do and what you can achieve. Being a member of OQHA, EOQHA, SOQHA and NOQHA gives you wonderful opportunities to meet new friends and share your love of horses with other people. This organization also keeps you busy and lets you do something that you really love and enjoy and keeps you away from negative things that are happening elsewhere. I was secretary for SOQHA last year and it was fun to be a part of something so important. I also go to the OQHYA meetings because I want to be involved in something I am passionate about. I would like to use my input to help make OQHA something that other youth would be interested in joining. Thanks to my parents and Jamie for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to have these great memories and achievements that I will always remember.
I am very interested in becoming a youth director because I would like to help more youth kids get involved in the sport I have come to love, and possibly have more interest in reining classes in the future.
